About the RoadtoBrazil

Ok, so it’s been almost 6 weeks and I’m just now getting around to doing the bio thing.

TheRoadtoBrazil blog is here to chronicle our lives for the next year as we leave our farm and building business and move to Olinda in the northeast of Brazil to work with some friends of ours in their ministry in the inner city, and in the dumps. (I would paste a picture here, but haven’t figured out how yet, I’m getting there, so be patient.)

We’ve got all kinds of cool challenges facing us, such as learning portuguese, and making the transition from rural to urban.

You gotta remember, I am from the country. A real working cattle farm no less. I didn’t even see the ocean until I was past 30 years old, and now I am moving to a city of 5 million people on the coast of South America.

Talk about culture shock.

I’m a few days from being 50. I was called into ministry 25 years ago, (I waited until I was past 20 to accept Jesus’ grace) and all I’ve ever wanted to do was serve Him.

A really bad marriage and some really dumb decisions kept me from doing that, but all that is behind me now and I am finally getting to do what I’ve dreamed of for all these years.

My wife Sandra, (we’ve been married 8 years now,) is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She has faced some really hard times and came through them with a love and compassion for people who’ve been abused and degraded, and she shares my calling and my love for Jesus and for the people of Brazil.

As soon as I figure out how, I’ll put her picture on this page and then you’ll agree with me that she is as pretty as she is special.
